USA Today posted an article that should serve as a WAKUP CALL to Americans.

U.S. consumers face “serious” inflation in the months ahead for clothing, food and other products, the head of Wal-Mart’s U.S. operations warned Wednesday.

The world’s largest retailer is working with suppliers to minimize the effect of cost increases and believes its low-cost business model will position it better than its competitors.
Still, inflation is “going to be serious,” Wal-Mart U.S. CEO Bill Simon said during a meeting with USA TODAY’s editorial board. “We’re seeing cost increases starting to come through at a pretty rapid rate.”

We all need to get ready for major changes to our lifestyle in the coming months. The out of control spending by the US government is finally going to hit home. The sad part is that these price increase will hit the low income families the hardest! Scary times ahead!

Based on the rampant increases in unemployment, I’m guessing that Stimulus 1 & 2 aren’t working. After looking at this video, I’m glad that I live in San Antonio, TX!

Book Find: Back to the Basics

Half Price Books in San Antonio was having a Memorial Day 20% sale today and it was my duty to check out their stock and expand my EVER GROWING book collection. Picked up two books for my 2009 “Read a Fiction per Month Challenge” but the find of the night was a book published by Readers Digest in 1981 called “Back to the Basics: How to Learn and Enjoy Traditional American Skills”.

I’m an “info nerd”.. I love to know how things work, how things are made and how they did it in the “olden days” and this book is a exhaustive reference of how to do just about anything that doesn’t require electricity.

I want a Tractor

After a great weekend at the ranch, I’ve got Tractor bug.. I don’t know where it came from but now I want to get a Tractor. Not looking for anything fancy just an old Ford.

Who would have ever guess that I would actually be considering a tractor. Good times!!

Today, I ran across an interesting from Delta Farm Press article entitled, “Batten down the hatches, road ahead’s looking rocky”. It basically lays out the facts that face American farmers. Insane demand, sky rocketing fuel costs and flooding in the heart land.

Excerpt from article, “Like ostriches with their heads in the sand, it’s only with recent months that the Fed and the administration have even acknowledged the existence of significant cost-of-living inflation, continuing instead to publicize the relatively minor increases in inflation for the core Consumer Price Index, which doesn’t include energy or food.”
