I love my friends at the Miss Universe Organization! They have really changed my view of the pageant world. Before I started working with them, I expected it to be very superficial and snobby but after my first project, I knew.. These guys are legit. They work hard and play hard.. They are probably some of the most down to earth people I’ve worked with. From the top to the bottom, these are some great people! Enjoy the Miss Universe Holiday song!

Heidi Montag is performing at the 2009 Miss Universe Pageant and on Saturday, Aug 22 did their first live webcast on their uStream.tv channel, Speidiweb using NewTek TriCaster.

I arrived at the Speidi Suite at 2:30pm. Setup the TriCaster and cameras and by 3pm we were streaming live to the web.

Before the webcast, Spencer needed a haircut. We decided to stream the haircut live to the web for thousands of fans to enjoy.

Throughout the webcast, Spencer and Heidi kept asking me to take a picture with them. Afterward, I finally gave in and said yes.

Ahh.. The life.. I’m here in Atlantis on Paradise Island in the Bahamas where TriCaster will be holding down the stream duties. Sunday August 16th will be the Presentation Show and for the first time in Miss Universe history, fans from around the globe will be able to watch the event LIVE..

Throughout the weekend, i’ll be posting pics. I’ll go ahead and warn you, I’m really can’t show behind the scenes contestant shots because that would all need to get approval from MUO.

Miss Universe’s First Live Stream will Utilize Ustream’s Broadcast Platform to Deliver High Quality, Premium Content to the Internet Audience via NewTek TriCaster™ Portable Live Production System

NEW YORK, NY – August 13, 2009 – The Miss Universe Organization, Ustream and NewTek announced today that the 2009 MISS UNIVERSE® Preliminary Competition (Presentation Show) will be webcast live on August 16, 2009 from Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas at 8 PM ET on www.nbc.com and www.missuniverse.com via Ustream and NewTek Tricaster™.

This marks the first time the Miss Universe preliminary competition will be streamed online to a worldwide audience. Ustream, the leading internet broadcasting platform, allows anyone to stream live to an online audience. Using NewTek TriCaster, portable live production system, anyone can produce and live-stream a network-style production.

At the Preliminary Competition, all contestants will compete in the Swimsuit and Evening Gown categories as part of the selection of the top 15 finalists who will be revealed during the beginning of the two-hour live telecast of the 2009 MISS UNIVERSE® Pageant live on NBC and Telemundo on Sunday, August 23rd at 9 PM ET.

The Preliminary Competition will be hosted by Miss Universe 2009, Dayana Mendoza and Local Bahamas radio personality Ed Fields. London based singer Anthoney Wright will be performing his hit song “Wud if I Cud” during the competition.

This year’s judges will include: Steven Schillaci, Talent Producer for many hit shows including American Idol; Best Buddies Talent Executive Mark Wylie; Last Call with Carson Daly Executive Producer David Friedman; Trump Model Management President Corinne Nicolas; Hollywood Choreographer of Oxygen’s Dance Your Ass Off, Mario Mosley; and Tiza Tjokroadisumarto, Director of Retail Operations, Michael Kors (USA). The technology provided by Ustream and NewTek will ensure that viewers receive the highest quality live streaming content and that the pageant reaches an unprecedented mass audience.
