Coming soon.. Philip Nelson.. The Record

After working with Peter Himmelman and Mike Manning on my songwriting skills, I decided to head into the recording studio to work on an album. This particular session, we recorded three original songs. I played rhythm guitar and sang, Rip played drums and Eric Neal pretty much played everything else. This guy is UNBELIEVABLE.

  • In Your Arms I’m Home – Philip Nelson
  • Listen to the Silence – Mike Manning & Philip Nelson
  • Till the Sun Comes up – Mike Manning & Philip Nelson

Have a couple more originals that need to be recorded but this is really coming together nicely!

Man grosses out McDonald’s customers and then gets arrested.

File this one under.. I can’t believe you’ve never kissed a girl!

It started Monday when customers of the McDonald’s located at 2404 Santa Barbara Blvd. alerted authorities to a man standing outside the restaurant for about 10 minutes squeezing away at the acne on his back.

11 Dangerous things you SHOULD let you kids do!

Noel playing with fire.

Kudos to the Huffington Post for this very good article!

The original idea for a whole book about dangerous things you should let your children do was a bit of a fluke. But after spending a weekend watching kids lick a 9-volt battery for the first time (at Maker Faire Bay Area) or reading about families who blog their way through the book (like the Johnsen Clan, featured in this slideshow) it’s clear that what kids needs these days is… more danger in their lives!

Toy Remote control car saves the lives of 6 soldiers in Afghanistan

Staff Sgt. Christopher Fessenden is on duty in Afghanistan now after tours with the Army in Iraq. He has traveled with standard-issue equipment — weapons, helmet, uniform, boots and so forth — plus a radio-controlled model truck his brother sent.

The truck is not a toy to him. He says it just saved six soldiers’ lives.

Sports Video Group: X Games Live: NewTek Doubles Up on TriCasters for Video Board, Streaming Productions

Brandon Graham hosts Inside X, a live webcast from X Games 17.

On the second day of the ESPN X Games, Sports Video Group dropped by to see the TriCaster compound. Check out this behind the scenes article!

NewTek’s TriCaster has a two-fold presence at Summer X Games this year, producing video board shows for the outdoor venues at L.A. Live, as well as ESPN’s live companion webcast. However, the most notable difference this year is not in the quantity of video being produced with the TriCaster, but rather the HD quality.

“This is our third X Games, but it’s the first year that it’s been fully HD,” says NewTek SVP of Strategic Development Philip Nelson. “It’s a fully HD pipeline and workflow, which is huge. If you look at the quality on the screens here it’s not even a comparison [to the previous SD].”

Do you love cats? Well this lady loves them a little too much.

When “Debbie” uploaded her eHarmony video, I don’t think she could have ever dreamed of what an overnight sensation it would be. When the guys at Songify got ahold of it, magic was created.. Enjoy. “Can’t Hug Every Cat” the song.

For some reference, here is the original eHarmony video. It’s true.. She REALLY does love cats! Well.. Maybe not really true as it seems that Debbie is actually Cara and the YouTube page links to her line of “I Love Cats” T-Shirts.. No matter what.. It’s all AWESOME! 😉

Review: Captain America: The First Avenger – AWESOME family movie!

I’ve been waiting with anticipation for the release of “Captain America: The First Avenger”.  As with any modern film, I’m normally disappointed with the unnecessary bad language and adult situations.

I’m pleased to report that director, Joe Johnston was not only true to the American spirit of Captain America but he keep romance and bad language to a minimum. One pleasant surprise is that this film has a very nice anti-bullying theme. The little guy is the hero and the bullies are made to look like the fools they are.

I took a group of kids ranging in age from 9 to 15 to a midnight showing and everyone loved it. I hope parents across the country support this movie and encourage Hollywood to make more movies that portray the values that made America great!

There is an insane squirrel in my backyard

All day today, this insane squirrel has been hanging out, laying on my rock wall. Every now and then he gets up to grab an acorn or runs up the tree. He always ends up laying on the wall.
