This week at the ESPN X Games in Aspen, Co, Noel Nelson took 2nd place in the FUSE Snowskate Freestyle Jam. Out of over 15 contestants, Noel’s Manual Rail grind pushed him to the top of the back.
“Winning 2nd in the snowskate competition was amazing,” said Nelson. “Having only seen snow twice in my life, beating 18 other kids was pretty sweet.”

SAN ANTONIO – January 28, 2010 – NewTek Inc., manufacturer of industry-leading video and 3D animation products, today announced that its TriCaster™ TCXD300 high definition/standard definition (HD/SD) portable live production systems and 3PLAY™ HD/SD slow motion replay systems will provide live venue video and instant replay at the ESPN Winter X Games® 14 in Aspen, Colo., January 28 to 31. Two TriCaster/3PLAY live production teams will replace and expand the capabilities that were previously provided by an expensive TV truck.
“Winter X Games is the world’s premier action sports event and our fans expect us to push the limit not only in sports but in the fan experience,” said Kate Nelligan, live event programming producer, ESPN X Games. “NewTek TriCaster and 3PLAY allow us to produce more live exclusive content for each venue, bringing the fans even closer to the action.”

Philip & Noel Nelson at Buttermilk. Getting ready for the ESPN Winter X Games
I’m here in Aspen, Co getting ready for TriCaster’s big debut at the ESPN Winter X Games! Wow! What an exciting project to be involved with!
Everyone knows about the television broadcast but unless you have attended one of these events, most don’t realize that there is another show being made… In Venue video!
With thousands of fans on site to be part of the action, there is no way that everyone can have a front row seat. That is where the LED video boards come in. TriCaster is powering the in venue video for the first time at Winter X! I’ll try to post some cool pics and stories of the action here in Aspen throughout the weekend.
One lesson that I’ve learned so far.. Dr. Martins are HORRIBLE on the ice and snow. I’ve busted twice.. Not just a slip but a feet above head wipeout. I have a feeling I’ll be buying some different boots just to survive the week.
TriCaster, 3Play and Live make up each of the two TriCaster production teams.
You probably remember the images of US Airways flight 1549 floating on the Hudson River as the passengers gathered on the wings awaiting rescue. Video has been release that shows the salvage efforts of flight 1549 and the raising of the aircraft from the frozen Hudson River.
The faithful readers of my blog may remember my CES post about “getting Tazed” at the Into Tomorrow booth during CES 2010 in Las Vegas. While that was a fun thing to witness, I was actually there for a radio interview with Dave Graveline for his worldwide sindicated show, Into Tomorrow. Here is my interview that took place just moments after the tazing incident. 😉
VH1 CLASSIC AND MARK BURNETT PRODUCTIONS GIVE MUSIC FANS A CHANCE OF A LIFETIME WITH NEW ORIGINAL SERIES “ROCK „N‟ ROLL FANTASY CAMP”
The New Four-Episode Series is Set to Premiere on VH1 Classic July, 2010
Put away your sleeping bags and flashlights and pack up your guitar and drumsticks, as it‟s going to be blood, sweat, and tears when VH1 Classic takes you on the adventure of a lifetime with the new original series “Rock „N‟ Roll Fantasy Camp.” Production is set to begin on the series in February 2010. The four-episode, one-hour series is set to premiere in July 2010.
VH1 Classic and Mark Burnett Productions have teamed up to give fans the ultimate music experience to fulfill their rock and roll fantasies. In a new, hour-long, weekly docu-series, viewers will get to watch as 15 musicians from a variety of backgrounds and cities will go through the transformative process of becoming “rock stars.” “Rock „N‟ Roll Fantasy Camp has allowed musicians around the world to make their dreams a reality,” said Mark Burnett. “We are delighted to produce a series about this real-life process and work with the great team at VH1 Classic.” Campers will learn the hard way that what doesn‟t kill you makes you stronger when rock n‟ roll star counselors dole out some intense tough love in order to turn these amateur musicians into rock gods. Previous rock and roll counselors have included Roger Daltrey, Steven Tyler, Slash, and Bill Wyman, to name just a few. Over the course of four weeks, the show will follow campers as they form bands, rehearse, get schooled by rock and roll legends, and ultimately, in the finale, perform before a live audience in an iconic rock venue.
“We are very excited to team up with Mark Burnett Productions to bring our viewers an inside look at all of the excitement and intensity of Rock „N‟ Roll Fantasy Camp,” said Lee Rolontz, EVP of Original Music Production and Development, VH1 and VH1 Classic. “Where else can you experience music fans living their dreams on stage next to legendary classic music artists?”
Rock „N‟ Roll Fantasy Camp founder David Fishof says “Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp has changed people’s lives and this new alliance with Mark Burnett and VH1 Classic will enable viewers to see this in a very exciting way.”
Each week, a surprise rock icon will drop in to train each band on a new aspect of becoming rock stars. We‟ll see campers evolve from quiet nice guys and gals to loud, sexy front men and women…timid drummers to drum-pounding rock heroes…wannabe Slashes to ax-slinging forces to be reckoned with. With a few hiccups along the way, the journey will be anything but dull…fights will erupt and stage fright will ensue, ensuring that only those with rock n‟ roll in their blood will make it to the top!
In preparation for the final battle of the bands, each group must claim their true rock identity by choosing a name, a bad-ass wardrobe, and some killer hair and makeup. With the music know-how, looks, and rock star swagger falling into place, viewers will watch them take the stage in front of a live audience. Will they pass the test and be flocked by groupies…or booed off the stage? The stakes are high, as the band voted best by the fans will win the opportunity every rock fan dreams about – a once-in-a-lifetime performance with a major rock star.
Mark Burnett Productions is producing the series. Executive producers for Mark Burnett Productions are Mark Burnett and Lee Metzger. David Fishof is an executive producer. Executive producers for VH1 Classic are Lee Rolontz, Keshia Williams, and Rick Krim.
I think I enjoy the beginning of American Idol when insane people who think they can sing audition and make fools of themselves, better than the actually competition. (Sorry for the run on sentence)
This season is bringing out the crazies like never before. In honor of one of the weirdest ones I’ve seen.. I would like to introduce you to Amy Lang and Boob Boxing!
