Supeme Court to weigh in on DC Gun ban.. TOMORROW!

To many, this may seem like just another day in America but there is a decision being made that can send seismic ripples all the way back to to our founding fathers. Today in DC, the Supreme Court is looking into the DC gun ban. If this is overturned it will be a great victory from Americas right to bear arms.

I pray that the Supreme Court will do their best to uphold the rights given to us by the Bill of RIghts and refrain from trying to tweak this amazing document based on society pressure.

2,500 people rush Milwaukee Human Services office for food vouchers

People wait in line for food vouchers in Milwaukee, WI

Over 2,500 people showed up this morning to receive food vouchers from the Department of Human Services. As reported by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, the crowd got eager and started rushing the door. Police were called in to help control the growing crowd.

With the rash of natural disasters, rising gas prices and food costs, I expect to see this sort of story more and more.

Privacy Attack: Congress wants all credit card & online purchases tracked and reported to government.

Thanks to www.freedomworks.org for making sure that this story gets out. It’s scary how FAR reaching this bill is. It would require all credit card companies (Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover) and online playment companies like PayPal, Amazon and Google checkout to track, aggregate and report on EVER order!

The amazing fact from the article is that Senator Christopher Dodd and his merry band of privacy theives snuck this into the bill at the last minute without debate!

I would HIGHLY urge you to contact your congress person to express concern.

I wouldn’t call myself a George Carlin fan but he has made me laugh till I cry numerous times through the years. He was best known for his “Seven words that you can say on television” bit that actually had policy impact on how the FCC regulates decency during a broadcast..

Whether you liked him or not.. Found him funny or offensive, George Carlin made his mark on society.

Warrantless Wiretapping – Telcos shielded from privacy suits.

“Surveillance Bill Offers Protection To Telecom Firms
Deal Would Extend U.S. Wiretap Power, Shield Providers Facing Privacy Lawsuits

By Dan Eggen and Paul Kane
Washington Post Staff Writers
Friday, June 20, 2008; A01

House and Senate leaders agreed yesterday on surveillance legislation that could shield telecommunications companies from privacy lawsuits, handing President Bush one of the last major legislative victories he is likely to achieve.

The agreement extends the government’s ability to eavesdrop on espionage and terrorism suspects while effectively providing a legal escape hatch for AT&T, Verizon Communications and other telecom firms. They face more than 40 lawsuits that allege they violated customers’ privacy rights by helping the government conduct a warrantless spying program after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.”

The Perfect Storm – Flooding, Fuel, Food and Fear

I realize that lately my blog has a tone of doom and gloom. It seems that a few days per week, I rant about food prices, inflation, gas prices, etc.

After the flooding that has taken place in the midwest, 33 million acres of corn could be wiped out. Corn prices are at record levels. Some sources list corn at over 70% higher than this time last year.. Top the natural disasters with the financial crisis that many Americans face, it seems that we are in the “perfect storm”.. Is this the EOTWAWKI (End of the World as we Know It)?

What can the average citizen do to protect their families?
1. Get out of debt.
2. Stock up on the necessities
3. Get informed
4. Let your politicians know that you are watching what they do! Get involved!

I hope that I’m over-reacting to this “bundle o’ news”… If I’m not.. at least I’ll be prepared!

I’m glad the murderer was found and convicted. The police were smart to seach computer records and a killer is off the street. With all the good of this story, there is one thing about this really SCARES me. Google tracks every search you make, anything you do, read or write on the internet is trackable. Big brother is REALLY watching.

Al Gore BUSTED!

The worlds most vocal and influential spokeman on Global Warming has been busted not practicing what he preaches!

Al Gore - Inconvenient Truth

The Tennessee Center for Policy Reseach reported:

“Energy Guzzled by Al Gore’s Home in Past Year Could Power 232 U.S. Homes for a Month
Gore’s personal electricity consumption up 10%, despite “energy-efficient” home renovations ”

“Actions speak louder than words, and Gore’s actions prove that he views climate change not as a serious problem, but as a money-making opportunity,” Johnson said. “Gore is exploiting the public’s concern about the environment to line his pockets and enhance his profile.”
