Dyson launches the bladeless electric fan
By Paul Taylor
First there was the bagless vacuum cleaner, then the towel-less hand dryer: Now James Dyson, the British inventor, has developed a bladeless electric fan which goes on sale on Tuesday in the US and Australia.
The Dyson Air Multiplier fan – which looks like something straight out of a sci-fi movie – uses advancements in airflow engineering instead of traditional blades to ‘multiply’ air 15 times and push out 119 gallons of smooth and uninterrupted air every second.
As a result, Dyson claims the bladeless fan, which works by forcing a jet of air out of a narrow circular slit and then over an aerofoil-shaped blade, is at least as efficient as its bladed counterpart, more comfortable and much safer.

Everyone knows that football players are tough.. They get paid to smash each other every weekend. It’s was great to see these tough guys wearing pink on Sunday to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Pink Cleats, pink sweatbands, pink gloves, pink hats and pink ribbon stickers as far as the eye could see.
In an era where corporate corruption fills the media coverage, I wanted to share this story that shows the positive side of big business.

FedEx flies terminally ill girl home

Because of caring people and a caring company, a terminally ill little Green Forest girl was flown home Friday by air ambulance from M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, so she can spend her last days surrounded by the people who love her most.
Friday afternoon, Jada was flown home to the Ozarks — on a gurney, attached to the machine that breathes for her. FedEx Freight paid the $11,000 bill for the special medical flight her family was unable to afford.
Jada Harper, who turned seven on Sept. 1, has an inoperable malignant tumor in her brain and is in a coma with a ventilator doing her breathing for her. She has been at the famous cancer center in Houston since July, but her situation is now at the point not much else can be done to help her.

The Tesla S Sedan during is unveiling in Los Angeles earlier this year.
This morning on the Today show, reporter Miguel Almaguer produced a story about $500,000,000 government funding of Fisker Automotive for the development of their electric car. It seemed like it would be a good story about government waste but it really highlighted how bad of a job journalists of today are doing!
What really drove me nuts about the piece was that Almaguer portrayed the electric car as “for the elite” saying that both the Fisker and Tesla were over $90k.
WRONG: If Almaguer had done his homework aka his job, we would have reported that the TESLA S Sedan is priced at around $40k and holds up to 7 people, can drive 350 miles on a charge and is already accepting pre-orders.
Instead they portrayed the electric car as something that is in concept mode and they promoted Al Gores latest investment in a concept car rather than highlighting the revolutionary Tesla S Sedan that will be available in about a year.
One side note: Why is the US Government aka US Tax Payers, giving a HALF-BILLION DOLLAR loan to a foreign own designer of a concept car?
I don’t think anyone would disagree when I say that the Heath Insurance industry needs reform but I keep reading more and more idiotic suggestions and decisions from our “leaders” in DC.. This one was irritating but not suprising..

Ensign receives handwritten confirmation
This doesn’t happen often enough.
Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) received a handwritten note Thursday from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold confirming the penalty for failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance.
Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it “Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold.”
The note was a follow-up to Ensign’s questioning at the markup.
