Mariah Carey tops Elvis and is quickly gaining on the Beatles as greatest artist of all time.

I never thought I would ever type anything so insane as the above headline. I was almost shocked last week when the word hit the street that Mariah Carey had tied the Elvis for most #1 singles (17) and is only 3 behind the Beatles (20).

I have to admit that this girl has shown some staying power in the music biz..Even after her blockbuster movie, Glitter. πŸ˜‰

When she first emerged, I thought she would be a flash in the pan but Mariah has sucessfully adapted to an ever changing fan base. Can’t say that I’m a fan (never purchased any of her music) but what she has done is nothing short of amazing.

Mobile Phones more dangerous than Asbestos and Smoking

I’ve always wondered what will be the “Cigarettes” of my generation and I keep coming back to Cell Phones. I’ve talk to experts on the subject and everyone tells me that the type of radiation from cell phones doesn’t hurt humans but back in the “olden days” even Doctors were trumpeting the merits of smoking..

From an article in March 30th “The Independent”..

“Mobile phones could kill far more people than smoking or asbestos, a study by an award-winning cancer expert has concluded. He says people should avoid using them wherever possible and that governments and the mobile phone industry must take “immediate steps” to reduce exposure to their radiation. ”

Backstreet Boys & Celebrity Apprentice

Not sure how many of you out there are Apprentice fans but during this weeks episode, Trace Adkins and Piers Morgan were tasked with planning and executing a Celebrity Benefit Concert and Auction featuring the Backstreet Boys..

Backstreet Boys

If you are like me, I was suprised that the Backstreet Boys were even still around. Not that I was a fan during thier initial outing..

Wow.. could these guys have looked any more petty than they did. I don’t see how they got much PR value out of the Apprentice appearance. Especially with they way their road manager treated Trace Adkins. How can they not know they are working with “Celebrity” Apprentice and that the people planning the event would be celebrities? Coming into a charity event making inane requests on their rider just isn’t cool.. I loved how Trace Adkins handled the situation.. Rather than getting an ego trip, he was simply shocked by their inflexibilty and “fullness with themselves”…

The Real Rudy’s – Hell’s Kitchen NYC

In NYC/Hells Kitchen there is a Bar & Grill that has amazing history. This legendary New York watering hole is called Rudy’s. It was made “famous” by The Westies, the Irish Mobsters that worked Hell’s Kitchen starting in mid 60’s..

Rudy's Bar & Grill - Hell's Kitchen NYC

Legend has it that one of the Westies brought a bowling bag with a head in it to Rudy’s.. He rolled the head down the bar and the tough guys sitting there never missed a beat and started buy the severed head of an old buddy shots.

I’m happy to say that I survived my visit to Rudy’s today… My buddy Mark Jeffers and enjoyed a frothy beverage and an official Rudy’s hot dog.. We even had the honor of discussion the merits of the San Antonio Spurs with singing homeless guy that we met during our adventure.

Notice the fine upholstry on the booth.. Only the finest duct tape holds these babies together..

American Airlines comes to a Grinding Halt

The rippling problems begain this morning with bad weather in Dallas, Texas causing a few flights to be cancelled. By the end of the day, hundreds of stranded travels were looking for answers in the San Antonio airport. Not only were there weather delays but the entire American Airlines SABRE system went down for almost 30 minutes keeping the few onsite ticket agents from doing anything to help the stranded travelers.

Hundreds of stranded travelers wait in line for hlep at the American Airlines ticket desk in San Antonio, TX

The computer problems combined with the weather delays caused me to miss my Toronto Red Carpet Tour Stop for NewTek. Adding insult to injury, they tried to charge me an extra $200 for “canceling” my flight to Toronto and flying directly to NYC, which was the second leg of my trip..

Wow.. What a day..

You own personal AT-AT – Star Wars comes to “life”

Thanks to $10 million from DARPA, Boston Dynamics has created the most creepy/cool Robot, I’ve ever seen. Those cheezy Bi-Ped robots from Japan that walk at a whopping 2 MPH and occiasionally serve drinks have nothing on the BigDog..

This video is show just how far the robotics industry has come in the last few years. The highlight is when the robot is kicked by a guy and rather than falling over, regains it’s balance averting a fall.

I’ll be the first in line to volunteer for a ride!

Are Wi-fi Emissions Killing You Slowly?

Most of us don’t consider our wireless gadgets a health risk. But while neo-Luddites and tinfoil-hat wearers have been sounding the alarm for decades, the safety of wireless signals is getting attention in circles that might make you take notice.
