I’ve been invited to be a guest speaker at one of the largest Anime conventions in North America.
This is probalby the most crazy weekends of my year as 10,000 rabid anime fans converge on Dallas, TX for a weekend of madness! I plan on blogging frequently during the weekend to share my fun with the readers of my blog.
Just found out that the organizers are trying to break the Guinness Record – Largest Gathering of people dressed as Games Characters..
If you happen to be attending the convention, make sure you catch the “NewTek Computer Animation Workshops”.. We will be showing fans how to take their characters from the drawing to 3-D animation using LightWave.

Ok..Ok.. I’m a HUGE San Antonio Spurs fan… I’m hoping to see my Spurs STOMP Bryant and his Lakers in the Western Conference Championships….
No matter where you loyalties lie, you gotta respect the insane skills of Kobe.. I ran across this video tonight of Kobe Bryant dunking the ball over a pool of snakes. It’s worth a watch and it’s almost surreal to see how much air Kobe gets during the dunk… I’ve heard that this viral video is part of a Nike shoe promotion and I’m SURE there is a bit of “manipulation” to the video.

Wow! Will the increasing price of gas level off anytime soon? We are almost to the point when it makes sense to “upgrade” to a more fuel efficient car. During a recent trip to Europe, I got a kick out of seeing the streets lined with SMART cars. These cars look like they are barely big enough to hold a person much less survive a crash on the mean streets of America.
With gas prices hitting records, I’ve noticed SMART dealers popping up in the “Land of the SUV”, Texas. These cars claim to get 68 MPG for highway driving, can go from 0 to 60 in 15 seconds and pricing starts around $16,000.00. Call me crazy, but I’m actually considering one of these for both the novelty and gas savings.
A recent article announced that the SMART received a 4 Star Crash Rating. I’ve been trying to find more details on this as I have doubts about the survivability of a SMART driver that meets up with a Suburban or pickup on a Texas highway.

According to a recent article on OpenMarket.org, the Senate has added a povision to the housing bill that requires all individuals involved in the processing of loans or profiting from loans to submit fingerprints to the national database..
I hate to say it but this will only be the first step.. Seems like everything being done by the congress and senate links back to the “popular” idea of a national id card..

Last night a NewTek contingent headed out to “Jack’s Patio Bar and Grill” to catch a live performance of one the greatest living guitarists, Junior Brown..
Flanked by Rex, Paul, Lori and Joe, we witnessed Junior play one amazing song after another..

The company I work for, NewTek has rented out an entire theater and is shutting down at 2:30 PM today so that EVERYONE in the company can catch the show at 3:10pm…

With gas prices skyrocketing to unprecedented levels, famers are feeling the crunch and heading back to the basics…
An AP story today discusses how one Tennessee farming family has left behind the diesel powered equipment for more affordable Mules.
“This fuel’s so high, you can’t afford it,” he said. “We can feed these mules cheaper than we can buy fuel. That’s the truth.”
And Danny Raymond says he just likes using the mules around the farm.
“We’ve been using them quite a bit,” he said.
Brother Robert Raymond added, “It’s the way of the future.”

If American can’t afford to do business under their current pricing, they need to raise ticket prices.. Charging for the 1st checked back is INSANITY.. It’s like a car dealership charging extra for wheels on a car.
I’m currently a Platinum flyer on American but with this idiotic move, I’m planning on switching my flights to Delta, Continental or Southwest.. Between the three, I can easily make to the places I usually travel to. Plus Delta and Continental seem to have a more modern fleet and better customer service.

I sent a complaint to the American Airlines customer service department and recelived the following reply:

I am sorry to disappoint you, but the baggage charge information was released this morning, and is available on AA.com, however, as with the
$25 second bag charge, the new charge does not apply to AAdvantage elite members.
