A Colorado man uses a medical app on his iPhone to save his own life during the Haiti earthquake.
Woolley used the light from his iPhone to show him his injuries and diagnosed it properly as a broken foot. Then, he used the instructions from the app to treat the excessive bleeding from cuts on his legs and the back of his head.
Unfortunately, the article doesn’t tell you the name of the lifesaving iPhone app. If I can track down the info, I’ll post it here on PhilipNelson.org.

Raising the bar is an Olympic tradition. Advances in lighter, smarter, faster recording and broadcast equipment are now making it possible to see Olympic competitions like you’ve never seen them before.
The new level of Olympic quality coverage is on view this week at the Southern California Grand Prix in Long Beach, California. Fans around the world can view live streaming video on the Internet thanks to Swim Network, a media venture launched by USA Swimming.
State-of-the art technology has made swimming fans’ dreams come true. “Five years ago, we would have needed a TV truck and satellite equipment,” observes Andrew Silver, director of the production team for Swim Network’s latest coverage. “Now we have a tricaster here that works like a mobile TV truck and we can simply broadcast to the Internet so fans can watch swimming on demand.”

I’m going to let the video speak for it’s self on this one. I’m sure my brother, Jay already has this one bookmarked.

I think Mr. T was the reason I wanted a mohawk, gold chains and some sweet feather earrings.. Many years later, I’m glad my parents refused to let me get the Mr. T makeover.
Now a new generation of kids will want to walk in the footsteps of BA Baracus with the release of the upcoming A-Team movie this summer! Enjoy the trailer.
As the late night show wars heat up and Jay Leno is rumored to move back to his original spot, I thought it was only fitting to share a clip of the MASTER.. Johnny Carson.
The “Egg Trick” clip shows how spontaneous the comedy was in the old days of late night television.
Just arrived in Vegas and my first stop was to visit with Dave Graveline for his worldwide radio broadcast. Note: They also stream the show using TriCaster.

Rob Almanza gets tazed as Philip Nelson and a security guard help him fall safely to the floor.
The interview before mine was with the guys from Tazer and they were doing a demo of Into Tomorrow staffers getting “Tazed”. Into Tomorrow Senior Producer, Rob Almanza was one of the willing volunteers to get Tazed. As he collapsed to the ground, he shouted “Don’t taze me Bro”.. Good times at CES.
I seriously thought about volunteering to be tazed but the though of uncontrollable urination in the middle of the show floor didn’t quite appeal to me. 😉
More CES madness to come.

The master of the prank, Howie Mandel does it again with the debut of his new scent, Sintensity!
I was SOOOO excited when I read Jason’s recent post about his top tech products and found TriCaster listed on his list of top 15 tech products! I’m honored to have been part of helping him launch his live production studio that is powered by TriCaster!
Jason Calacanis’ Top Tech Products (And A Political Rant)
15. Tricaster
: The Tricaster by Newtek is a complete digital studio in a box. This amazing device allows me, and Leo Laporte, to create multicamera shoots without spending $100,000 building a studio and having a half dozen engineers on call for a show. Instead you drop $10,000 on this box and have one editor man the Tricaster and you’re done. Leo has used the Tricaster to create a $2M a year podcasting business with a half dozen employees and This Week in Startups is making over $250,000 a year in advertising after only a couple of months. The podcasting/video show revolution is powered by Tricaster. I love this product.
